Carving Knives

As always the post title: carving knives, is the click able link to the images...
I been working on this picasa album Carving knives, these are knives from the past, most are long gone..
Since the blog vote shows 2nd highest on tools, I thought i would post a link to the album, and a pic. This is the knife Rick In Seattle helped me with , my second straight razor knife i ever made.
further discussion will follow upon, users comments on what they want to find information on...
  • How bout Dockyard micro gouges?
  • Stubai palm gouges...
on the tools segment here, i wouldn't want to preach to the choir. or be covering moot points like sharpening if everybody knows how... Please comment: with tool questions, this is your blog too followers...... Thanks for supporting this blog with site visits comments and feedback.

  1. Thomas, I think a photo step-by-step of transforming a straight razor into a carving blade is in order. Not much of this available, especially with lots of steps. And don't forget the much needed step-by-step comments (insights and tips) by no one but yourself.

  2. I think my son found a good solution for my new murphy knife that came in my beginners kit. Grip is hard when you have arthritis. He dipped my handle in a tool dip that feels like rubber. I tried it out and didn't get any slip with my gloves on. Just thought I'd mention this.

    Holee,
i forgot about the old rubber tool handle dip,

it should last a good while, but will eventually wear holes in it .. then it can be skinned off and redip till it builds to your likeness...
