Start with the blank

Make a stop cut around the bottom of the hat.

Make knife cuts up to the stop cut, at the front and rear corners.  Be careful not to cut into the top of the shoulders.

Round off the hat to a cone shape.

Make  stop cut at the top of the hat trim.

Cut down to the stop cut to isolate the hat trim.

Draw in the beard and shape nose.

Draw in complete beard area.

Make stop cut at arms and hands and cut to the stop cut.
