Here's a Santa Christmas tree ornament, that was carved by Steve Cotton in 2007. I got this carving from Steve in a carving exchange.
Here's another Steve Cotton Santa ornament that Steve carved in 2008.

Kind Of A Different Santa!

Here's a Santa that is a bit different than others in my collection. This Santa is 6 inches tall, including the stump he's standing on. He's carved in the round, and is a great example of Flat Plane carving, by Gene Messer of Texas. Gene specializes in Flat Plane carving, and is one of the best.

Another Santa!

Here's one of Jim O'Harra's carved Santa's. This one is a 2 1/2 inch pin. You can learn so much from looking at studying a carving from a really good carver. And Jim is a really good carver. I acquired this Santa in order to study how Jim carves eyes. I think the eyes on a carving tells us a lot about the carver. Jim's carved eyes tell me that he's another excellent wood carver.

Santa Gallery

Just talked to Ol' Thomp! And was talking about Santa ornaments. I told him I received a fantastic Santa ornament from Mark N. Akers. He said, "Wow! post it for others to see". This is it! It's 5 inches tall, and is one of the best carved that I have seen. Between now and Christmas, I'll post photos of other Santa's that I have received as the result of gifts, swaps, and exchanges.

Noah's Ark Scene!

This Noah's Ark and animals was just completed for a collector. This scene is 76 inches wide, and will be placed above a set of French doors. in a room with vaulted ceilings. Remember that I promised a slide tutorial on "carving" animals with only a rotary tool (Dremel). The pairs of animals in this scene were done with rotary tool and a 1/2 inch sanding sleeve that comes with the set. I have not forgotten about the slide tutorial.....
