Makin Short Pieces Longer
This is one for those of you who are cheap like me. Those that save even the smallest piece of carving wood. You know, cannot bring yourself to throw the small pieces away, because you'll use it some day. I'll even take it one step farther. You probably never get around to carving those small pieces because they are so small. Too cheap to buy band aids??? Naw, maybe just smart.
Here's a solution. Take a piece and insert a 2 1/2 inch drywall screw, to stick out one end. You may have to counter bore to get the "stick out". Screw the piece to be carved onto the one with the screw. Just be sure not to carve the screw.....

great idea for us thrifty, tight old baby boomers!
i was thinking polyurethane glue like gorilla glue (now comes in clear) a dowel and clamp..
the gorilla glue will foam up, and it might be a tad bit harder than the wood but that's nothing to work around for tight old pharts.....
