As always the post title: carving knives, is the click able link to the images...I been working on this picasa album Carving knives, these are knives from the past, most are long gone..
Since the blog vote shows 2nd highest on tools, I thought i would post a link to the album, and a pic.This is the knife Rick In Seattle helped me with , my second straight razor knife i ever made.

Thomas, I think a photo step-by-step of transforming a straight razor into a carving blade is in order. Not much of this available, especially with lots of steps. And don't forget the much needed step-by-step comments (insights and tips) by no one but yourself.
I think my son found a good solution for my new murphy knife that came in my beginners kit. Grip is hard when you have arthritis. He dipped my handle in a tool dip that feels like rubber. I tried it out and didn't get any slip with my gloves on. Just thought I'd mention this.

i forgot about the old rubber tool handle dip,
it should last a good while, but will eventually wear holes in it .. then it can be skinned off and redip till it builds to your likeness...
Got a couple of Thomp's knives and am impressed! Cut real good and are stay shart.

Where does on get a set of Dockard micro gouges? I am looking for a set. All I can find is individual gouges. Thanks for any info. Also will be marking this site as a favorite.
