The Oar Carver (My Pocket Knife)

For Hal and some others who asked about the Oar Carver pocket knife. While they make a two blade lock back pocket knife, mine is the single blade lock back. The blade is 1 1/4 inches in length (cutting edge), while the total length closed is 3 3/4 inches. It is made by QUEEN CUTLERY. The blade is high carbon "D-2" tool steel. This is my favorite tool, but I will confess that when I got it new it had a factory edge, that even when professionally sharpened would not carve, at least the way I thought is should. It had a bevel that I did not like at all. I prefer a flat ground blade. I sent the knife to Rick at LITTLE SHAVERS, with the directions to make it carve wood. The rest is history. As I said it's now my favorite. My favorite out of many, way too many knives.

I was told when i was young that in life a man only gets one good truck, a good woman, a good dog and a pocket knife!

well i must have lost my good pocket knife when i sold that old truck or with the first wife, or that old sooner hound ran off with it!...

because i just cant find a pocket knife i can get comfortable using, so tom h. you better put a chain on yours!

sure i can carve with a pocket knife but id rather carve with some of my favorite knives iv made,
only thing there is which favorite today...?
