For the past several years I've whittled leprechaun pins and traded them for pitchers of beer. I've got a jump on St Patrick's Day this year, and have a bunch nearly ready.
These little pins are very appropriate for the newer whittler. The leprechaun heads are merely a variation of Santa, whittled "on the corner". The standing leprechauns are scroll sawed out of 1/4th or 3/8ths inch Basswood. After being whittled, a pin back is glued onto the backs. Most of the leprechauns will be painted, but some will be stained and /or finished natural.
