MORE Whittling and the Beach!
Walking on the beach can yield many interesting items in addition to shells. These photos are a pieces of driftwood. They are kinda wormy and insect eaten. However, they may find themselves whittled a bit or at least be matched up with some whittled pieces.
Both of these pieces of driftwood suggest something....what do they suggest to you?

Tom,
I am really bad at finding anything in wood. You are near the ocean so I will say number 1 is a sea monster number 2 is his home.
I would say from the picture a gator head on a snake or maybe like the China dragon with the long body. The second one looks textured like a morel mushroom. I am looking forward to see what you come up with.
Doug, That's exactly what I thought. Now the wood just has to dry out....
